Every brand has a story. Some begin in a boardroom. Others begin with an idea scribbled on a napkin.
The name Tiege Hanley began somewhere far more meaningful...

While looking through a family Bible that had been passed down for generations, Tiege Hanley founder Kelley Thornton discovered something unexpected. Inside the pages was a detailed family tree documenting his Irish ancestry.
Among the names of his relatives, one stoodout immediately: Tiege Hanley. It wasn’t just a name. It carried weight. History. Identity. Thornton knew that if he ever built a company, it would carry that name and the legacy behind it.
What began as a discovery in an old family air loom would eventually become the name of a modern men’s skin care brand built on the strong values instilled in it.
With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, it’s the perfect time to look back at the Irish heritage and family legacy that helped shape the brand.
A Legacy of Champions
The surname Hanley traces back to Gaelic Ireland and carries a powerful meaning: champion.
Historically, the Hanley lineage is believed to descend from the royal house of O’Conor, the last High Kings of Ireland. Families connected to this lineage were known throughout Irish history as leaders, warriors, and skilled archers who protected and guided their clans. Leadership, courage, and discipline were not just admired traits; they were expectations.

The family motto associated with the name reflects that mindset: “The valiant archer forever.” In ancient Ireland, archers symbolized preparation, precision, and resilience. Success required patience, skill, and constant readiness.
These qualities defined the warriors who carried the Hanley name and ultimately helped shape the symbolism found in the Hanley family crest.
The Hanley Crest
The Hanley family crest reflects the values that have long defined the name. Each element carries symbolic meaning tied to courage, resilience, and Irish heritage.
| The Silver Boar | The boar represents a warrior who refuses to yield and stands firm in the face of challenge.
| Two Arrows | Symbols of readiness and the warrior spirit. Archery was one of the most respected skills in medieval Ireland, requiring discipline, precision, and focus.
| Golden Lions | Long recognized as symbols of bravery, strength, and leadership. Throughout European heraldry, lions represented those who possessed both power and responsibility.
| Shamrocks | A proud symbol of Irish heritage and identity.
| The Green Shield | Reflects loyalty, hope, and the Irish landscape itself, tying the imagery back to the country where the Hanley legacy began.
From Irish Warriors to Modern Men
While the Hanley name carries a legacy rooted in Irish history, its modern expression exists in a completely different era: helping men show up as the best version of themselves every day.

For decades, men were told personal care didn’t matter. Those days are over, society is embracing men’s skin care more then ever before. Today’s man understands something previous generations often overlooked.
Grooming isn’t vanity. It’s wellness and confidence.
It’s part of performing at a high level in both their personal and professional lives. That belief is exactly what led to the creation of Tiege Hanley.
